Case of the Month- April 2015

Our case of the month for April is an unbelievable smile transformation using a metal fixed brace. Our patient wanted to be able to smile for her wedding photographs and we were given a time span of just 8 months! Now the level of tooth crowding was quite severe and we were unsure whether the treatment could be completed in time. However, we did not need to worry. The treatment was complete ahead of schedule. We used high tec metal brackets which have minimal friction and allow quick alignment of rotated, crooked, displaced teeth. Just take a look at the before and after photos:

Wonky, crooked teeth Crowding is severe
Teeth sticking out Side view- the lateral teeth are really sticking out

Now after only a few months with a metal brace, the end result is...

Straight even teeth A fantastic new smile, straight and even!
Even teeth Lateral teeth are in line and straight

Why metal braces you may say. Well, metal is still best and our preferred method of action. There are of course, ceramic brackets which are clear and lingual braces which are fitted on the inside of the teeth. Both of these techniques are great and have their place. However, metal reigns supreme! If you would like a smile transformation in only a few months, please call us today and begin your journey to a new smile!

Case of the month July 2021- Ceramic Crowns

Our case of the month for July 2021 is quite a complex one involving multiple ceramic crowns after an accident during the first lockdown. Our patient, Xavier, had a cycling accident where he fractured 3 of his front teeth. Now with any trauma case, there is a certain way to handle the situation and it is important not to rush into a specific treatment. The reason being is that once the teeth and gums have been damaged, the consequences may not be apparent for several weeks or months. Hence the use of provis… READ MORE

Dental orthodontic retainers

At the end of orthodontic treatment, retainers must be worn otherwise you run the risk of undoing all of the hard work straightening your teeth. This is called relapse. We advise a combination approach of a fixed wire retainer placed behind the front teeth as well using a removable retainer at night. Fixed Retainer In most cases, we will place the fixed wire retainer immediately after the brace has been removed so that the risk of relapse is minimal. The great advantage of a fixed wire retainer is that it… READ MORE

Case of the month December/January 2020/2021

Time has flown by and we forgot to post our case of the month for December so we have decided to combine them with a tremendous case study involving a complete smile transformation. Our client really hated her smile. The main issues were that the smile was not wide enough, the back teeth caved in so that they were not visible on photos and the bite was all over the place. As well as teeth crowding and an overall yellow shade, so a number of aesthetic problems. After careful planning, which is always the key… READ MORE

Case of the Month for March and April 2019

Some of you may have noticed that we missed the Case of the Month for March. However, our case today is worth the wait. Sometimes the end result is so spectacular that it completely transforms the smile, overall aesthetics, confidence and outlook on life. Modern dental orthodontic treatment means that treatment times are often far less than in the past which is a huge bonus. Our case underwent conventional full mouth orthodontics using good old metal brackets, which often are still the best method of treat… READ MORE
