Case of the Month December 2021- Porcelain Veneers

Our case of the month for December was a stunning one involving the replacement of old porcelain veneers and a dental implant crown for a front tooth.

Porcelain veneers are a great way to improve overall aesthetics and are considered to be the most beautiful of all dental restorations for front teeth. However, as with anything in life, they will not last forever! Replacement veneers will often be needed every 10-15 years due to normal wear and tear. There is also the issue of gum recession over time which can show the margin of the veneer and be unsightly.

This was apparent in our case with one veneer falling off and gum recession showing affecting the smile line. The other front tooth was a dental implant. To make sure the very best results were seen, we had to replace this tooth and change all of the existing veneers. Expert work from Dr Nissit Patel and Luke Barnett dental lab gave a tremendous end result. Just take a look:

Before porcelain veneers

A front tooth veneer had fallen off and gum recession providing a challenging situation

After porcelain veneers

Wow. A true smile makeover!

Dental implant treatment is complicated and requires a huge amount of training, experience and ongoing education. Of course, some… READ MORE

Thankfully January is over! Longer days are on the horizon and Spring time not too far away. Our case of the month for January involved quite a complex one to replace a missing front tooth using a dental implant. Unfortunately, our patient had an accident causing severe trauma to his front tooth. The tooth could not be saved and required removal. This is a nightmare scenario for most of us but thankfully we have the technology and options available to replace the tooth with a long term solution- a dental im… READ MORE

Case of the Month September 2021- E Max Veneers

Our case of the month for September 2021 was a simply stunning one using ultra minimally invasive E max veneers. Our client disliked her front teeth composite bonding which had discoloured, worn and chipped over time. Although teeth bonding is a superb treatment, there are disadvantages compared to porcelain such as those mentioned above. Porcelain will not stain or change colour and it is far more durable than composite. However, in the past, porcelain needed considerable preparation to create space for th… READ MORE

Case of the Month- November 2019

Our case of the month for November involves a re construction of the bite over a number of years. The main reason for treatment was due to severe tooth wear due to bruxism. Bruxism is essentially grinding at night to such an extent that the enamel is worn over a number of years. This can cause a number of problems such as: Tooth sensitivity Difficulty in eating Lack of a coherent bite Aesthetic issues Pain leading to root canal treatment in severe cases Tooth wear, on the whole, can be prevented or… READ MORE
