Case of the Month May 2019

Our case of the month for May involves a stunning smile transformation with a combination treatment involving lingual braces, teeth whitening and porcelain veneers. Here is a photograph of the initial appearance:

A pre treatment smiling photograph

Here we can see slightly crooked front teeth and short lateral incisor teeth (second ones from the front). These teeth had porcelain veneers which were very bulky as the teeth were set behind the central teeth. This never works very well as the overall aesthetic result is simply masking the fact that the teeth are in the incorrect position. The result is that the veneers are bulky and bulbous. The shade is slightly on the yellow side, what we in the dental world would call A3 in general. After we worked our magic, here is the final result:

A wonderful new smile

After a short course of lingual braces, we were able to straighten the teeth and move the lateral incisor teeth into the correct position. For those of you who are unaware of lingual braces, these are fitted on the inside of the teeth. Hence this is the only truly invisible brace. Once we were happy with the positions, teeth whitening was carried out using Philips ZOOM whitening. This process can be done in the chair followed by a take home kit or just at home using the kit for 14 days. Finally, the veneers were removed, we used our incredible Waterlase i Plus laser to re contour the gum line due to uneven levels and new veneers were made. We do not photoshop our photos and hence the slight inflammation of the gum line on the left side! This photograph was taken just after fitting of the veneers. If you would like a stunning new smile this year, you have found the right practice! Please contact us today. Treatment completed by Dr Nissit Patel. Case of the Month October 2021- Invisalign, whitening and bonding

Our case of the month for October was a simple yet effective one involving three of our favourite techniques: Invisalign, tooth whitening and cosmetic bonding. Crowding of teeth is so common, we would probably say the majority of the population suffer some form of mis alignment of some sort. Luckily, modern day treatments mean that teeth straightening is actually a simply and pain free process. In our case, we used Invisalign Lite which is the 'middle of the road' version which typically takes less than 6 … READ MORE

Case of the Month September 2021- E Max Veneers

Our case of the month for September 2021 was a simply stunning one using ultra minimally invasive E max veneers. Our client disliked her front teeth composite bonding which had discoloured, worn and chipped over time. Although teeth bonding is a superb treatment, there are disadvantages compared to porcelain such as those mentioned above. Porcelain will not stain or change colour and it is far more durable than composite. However, in the past, porcelain needed considerable preparation to create space for th… READ MORE

Case of the Month August 2021- Social 6 lingual brace, teeth whitening and cosmetic bonding

Our case of the month for August was a straight forward one but effective. In many cases, we get asked to correct one or two teeth which really bothers our patient. Most of the time, this is perfectly feasible using modern day cosmetic dental techniques such as lingual braces and cosmetic bonding. For our case, one tooth had slipped behind the others and was in cross bite with the lower teeth. This is where the upper tooth actually sits on the inside surface of the lower tooth when closed. This is not desir… READ MORE

Case of the Month March 2021- Cosmetic Bonding

Our case of the month for March is a simple but great one- we love it so much! It features cosmetic bonding which is a favourite treatment of ours. People often ask what is cosmetic or composite bonding. Well the answer is simple. For many years, dentists have been using adhesive technology to bond fillings inside of teeth. The same technology can be applied to the outside of teeth to make them look pretty! In essence, if a tooth is worn down, fractured, uneven or discoloured then composite bonding can be u… READ MORE
