Case of the Month- October 2013

Our case of the month for October is a tooth whitening case using one of our most popular techniques: take home trays. Teeth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dental treatment. Having whiter, brighter teeth that look clean and healthy is desirable and confidence boosting. The treatment is available to all with their own teeth! THE PROCESS 1. A full clinical examination is required prior to any cosmetic dental procedure. 2. It is highly advised that you visit the hygienist prior to any tooth whitening procedure. 3. Impressions are then taken of your teeth. 4. The specially made trays are fitted and a demonstration is required to show how to use the whitening gel properly. 5. The trays and gel are worn for 1 hour a day over 2 weeks. 6. Whiter teeth! 7. The trays and gel can be used as a top up over the following months/ years. A typical example is presented below:

Yellow teeth, discoloured teeth Yellow teeth in need of whitening
White teeth, brighter teeth Whiter, brighter teeth in just 2 weeks!

The system used in this example was Philips Zoom whitening gel. The treatment was completed by Dr Nissit Patel. Dr Nissit Patel says: ' Tooth whitening is a common place procedure which can have a dramatic effect on the overall shade of the teeth and cosmetic appearance. However, it is important that a clinical assessment has been made prior to any treatment as certain precautions will need to be taken in some situations. Tooth whitening should only be undertaken by a qualified dental professional.'

In contrast to porcelain veneers or crowns which require drilling away of healthy tooth enamel to cover the teeth with the ceramic. Granted, this may l… READ MORE

Case of the month December/January 2020/2021

Time has flown by and we forgot to post our case of the month for December so we have decided to combine them with a tremendous case study involving a complete smile transformation. Our client really hated her smile. The main issues were that the smile was not wide enough, the back teeth caved in so that they were not visible on photos and the bite was all over the place. As well as teeth crowding and an overall yellow shade, so a number of aesthetic problems. After careful planning, which is always the key… READ MORE

Case of the month November 2020- Cosmetic Bonding

Our case of the month for November is cosmetic bonding or teeth bonding which is one of our favourite treatments. For those of you unaware of the process, let us explain for you. The Process of Cosmetic Bonding Essentially, the process is completely pain free. There is no cutting of the teeth so the underlying tooth enamel is left completely intact. Now this is a huge advantage! Removing tooth enamel removes the hardest tissue in the body and weakens the tooth considerably. There is no going back. Over time… READ MORE

Case of the Month October 2020- Tooth whitening and bonding

It's the end of October and we have not posted our case of the month for September! We have so busy and time flies but here it is; a fabulous case involving Phillips ZOOM tooth whitening followed by bonding or cosmetic bonding. There are so many tooth whitening options at the moment that it can be confusing which one to choose. In general, all whitening systems involve the use of hydrogen peroxide usually at a concentration of 6%. In the past, we were able to use 35% or even greater but due to EU legislation… READ MORE
