Why replace missing teeth?

Missing teeth, apart from the obvious aesthetic reasons, should and can be replaced. Missing teeth replacement not only restores the appearance but also allows you to function normally, eating whatever you like without fear of damaging the adjacent teeth.

Implants will also prevent a phenomenon called ‘over-eruption’ which stops adjacent teeth from drifting into the gap and stops opposing teeth from growing into to the gap. Once these movements occur they are notoriously difficult to treat and can lead to bite and functional problems.

Replacing teeth as quickly as possible will prevent the above processes from starting therefore avoiding these potential pitfulls.

What is a dental implant?

Dental implants are artificial roots that serve as a replacement for missing teeth. Made from titanium, which is biocompatible the implant stops any triggering of any allergic reactions. The design of the surfaces allow fusion to the surrounding bone, called ‘osseointegration’.

The new tooth, denture or bridge can be attached once this has been achieved. These replacement teeth are completely bespoke and are produced to meet your individual needs.
