Straightening a twisted front tooth within a few weeks

Case of the Month April 2025

Our case of the month for April 2025 is a familiar one where there was some relapse after past braces and a front tooth had started to twist over the adjacent tooth. In the grand scheme of things, this is a minor issue but if you have already had braces and a front tooth starts to rotate, this is incredibly frustrating!

Now the good news is that we can correct this in a short space of time, with a discreet solution, with minimum fuss and at an affordable fee. The answer lies in the Social 6 lingual brace which is placed on the inside of the teeth making it the only truly invisible brace system. Please take a look at the before and after photos so see how it works.

Here we have the brace in situ, on the inside of the teeth. Only 6 teeth are fitted making this brace the smallest available and minimally invasive

This is a fixed retainer which is now bonded on to the back teeth and holding them in position. A removable retainer is also needed at night for double security especially if there has been relapse.

How does the treatment work?

After the usual full clinical examination and scanning, we can provide a clear idea of the possible outcomes available. Now to be clear, the Social 6 lingual brace may not be suitable for every orthodontic relapse case especially if there is severe crowding or tooth rotation present. In most cases, we can guarantee a significant improvement if not full correction as in our case above. The next stage is the fitting which usually takes about 30 minutes and the first wire is inserted. There are 3 wires in total and with changes made every 4 weeks. Once the third wire has been used, we may be able to make one final adjustment if needed. Therefore the time frames for treatment are usually 12-16 weeks.

Once the treatment is complete, the fixed retainer is placed on the day of removal to avoid any immediate movement and a scan is taken for the night time retainer.

Invisalign Comprehensive to Close Spaces and Improve the Bite

One of the most common comments we encounter when discussing Invisalign with our patients is 'can Invisalign really close large gaps between my teeth?'. The reason for this is that most dentists will say that only fixed braces have enough 'force' to close spaces with any certainty. However, with careful planning and using the latest technology available, we can predictably close gaps and improve the bite using Invisalign.… CONTINUE READING

Our patient was told it was impossible but we managed to straighten her teeth

We love a challenge especially when it concerns teeth straightening and our case of the month treated in October was a great one. Our lovely patient came to us to straighten her front teeth only after years of being down about her smile. She was told by several dentists that it simply was not possible without going through a long drawn out full mouth orthodontic plan. We were happy to take on the challenge head on and after some careful planning, Dr Nissit Patel was able to provide a great result in a few m… CONTINUE READING
